The 2007 SW Regional Helper
Seminar and Evaluation was held on July 8, 2007 at Southwest
Working Dog Association. The Teaching Helpers for this event
were Nathaniel Roque, Bill Szentmiklosi and Wayne Walcott.
Our Regional Training director and Teaching Helper Uwe Doose
was ill and unable to attend the event.
Helper Entry was excellent for a
summer time event with 13 USA Helpers signing up for the
seminar and 10 of them participating in the
Evaluation. Spectator turnout for the event was excellent
with almost 30 additional members in attendance to watch and
lend support by bringing dogs for the Helpers to work. The
weather cooperated by cooling from the previous weeks to the
low 90s at the start of the event and dropping to the low 80
by the end of the evening.
The members of SWDA led by Molly
Hessler and Susan Roque did another outstanding job of
hosting the event with plenty of fruit, drinks and an
excellent Tri Tip Dinner.
The Helpers that participated
were:
Brian Craft "Basic Level"
Michael Kempkes "Club Level"
Michael Stachhouse "Club
Level" from South West Working Dod Assoc
Brian Anglin "Basic Level"
Jim Laubmeier "National
Level" Scottsdale Sch Club
Rich Rosen "Regional Level"
Phoenix Sch Club
Lionel Madden "National
Level" Golden State Sch Club
Raul Moreno "Basic Level"
(Seminar only) Southwest Working Dog Assoc
Chris Kutelis "Basic Level"
(Seminar only) Southwest Working Dog Assoc
Dana Williams "Entry Level"
Robert Bell (Seminar only)
David Felicano "Basic Level"

The event was a success earning
$ 640.00 profit for the Region. My thanks to the Teaching
Helpers for donating their time to teach this event and to
the members of the region for their support.
