Effective July 1, 2009, the SV will raise

about $211 for the new SV judge release fee.
E-Ballot #13-09
Motion by Sean O’Kane, seconded by Sara
Wallick, to approve raising scorebook certification fees to
$10 for USA members and $40 for non-USA members.
Background: Currently we charge
members $5 and nonmembers $20 for scorebook certification.
The following motion passed at the AWDF General Board
meeting.
All AWDF score books must be acquired
from their specific AWDF member sport/breed club with the
exception of the sporting clubs (Mondioring, LV/DVG, etc) in
order to retain the breed identification in the AWDF score
book, otherwise the breed ID will be listed in the AWDF
score book as MIX BREED.
The scorebook certification fee increase
is proposed to offset the potential loss of USA members with
breeds other than German Shepherd Dogs due to the
requirement they must obtain their scorebooks from another
AWDF member club. This will encourage those showing in local
USA events to become members or continue being members with
a minimal extra expense versus being a nonmember paying the
higher scorebook certification fee. Submitted 7/8/09,
closes 7/22/09.
7/9/2009 USA Treasurer Sean O'Kane has announced a
new policy on how your dog's breed will be recorded in your
new scorebook.
Starting July 15, 2009, if you want your dog's breed
listed in your new scorebook, you will need to get a
scorebook from your respective breed organization. These are
listed on the
AWDF website. For German Shepherds, the breed
organization will continue to be USA. For Rottweilers -
USRC, for Malinois -
AWMA.
This change was approved at the recent AWDF annual
meeting.
If you have a breed other than a German Shepherd and
elect to get a scorebook from USA, the breed will be
recorded in the score book as, "Mixed Breed". If you
get a scorebook from another breed organization, the book
will need to be sent to the USA office to get stamped for
use in USA events.
A detailed article on the
Regional Directors and Presidents Award is contained in the
March/April issue of the Magazine. We delayed publishing the
results so that they could appear concurrently in all three
USA media.
The winners of the Regional Directors Award
for the six (out of ten) participating regions are as
follows -
Northwest Region: Redwood Schutzhund Club
Southwest Region: Der Hundesport Performance Club
Southeastern Region: South Metro Atlanta Schutzhund Club
North Central Region: O.G. Bierstadt Schutzhund Club
South Central Region: DFW Working Dogs, Inc.
Mid-Central Region: Tornado Alley Schutzhund Club
The GEC proudly awards a plaque and a cash award of $250
each to these Clubs.
These clubs stood out in their regions by their efforts to
promote our sport in a positive light and with good
sportsmanship and conduct, which encouraged growth and
camaraderie amongst their members.
The winner of the 2008 GEC Presidents Award
From regional winners we selected the best club for the
President’s Award.
The GEC proudly awards a plaque and a cash award of $350
(making a aggregate cash award of $600) to: Redwood
Schutzhund Club
Congratulations to all these clubs and their members!
The members of these clubs will also receive a "pin"
designed by GEC Secretary , Katja Hunsecker and it is our
hope that when they wear it they will be blessed with good
Karma.
Our thanks to all the clubs who participated and to the
Regional Directors who saw the benefits of identifying and
recognizing such "good club" behavior and actions. We are
hopeful that more regions will participate in the 2009
Awards which will be kicked off soon ( subject to budget and
other approvals).
Sincerely

8/5/2008 - USA Regional
Directors' and President's Awards
Rifky Mackeen chair of the USA
General Education Committee asked me to pass the
attached information along to the SW Region clubs and with
permission to cross post. He feels this awards program is
important and would like to get the word out to all of the USA
clubs so please pass it along to your fellow club members and
fellow USA clubs.
Clubs may nominate themselves or
other clubs by submitting a document to the Regional Director
with a copy to Rifky Mackeen, Chair of the GEC. There is no
formal check list right now but please include only data for the
year 2007 matching the criteria on the attached document. We
have a large number of pro-active clubs in our region and it
would be great if one or more came away with an award so get
those nominations in before the end of August.
The following is a brief explanation
of the program:
The General
Education Committee of the USA is pleased to advise the creation
of eleven awards to be granted annually to showcase member clubs
of the USA. There will be ten Regional awards and one National
Presidents award.
These awards are intended to
spotlight and reward Clubs which are conforming to all rules of
good behavior and conduct with respect to its membership, its
canines and the general public.
In addition these awards are
designed to encourage every club to a higher standard of
excellence in promoting their canines and club activities to
both the membership and more importantly, to the general public
thereby helping to dilute any anti-dog sentiment or breed
specific resentment.
It is envisaged that all
nominations will be submitted by end of August 2008 and that the
selection by the Regional Selection Committee will be completed
by end September 2008. The winning clubs will be determined by
October 15, 2008 so that awards can be made in November 2008
based on compliance with the criteria in 2007.
Details of the process and
procedure are laid out below. This is also given in the
attachment. We would like to thank all members of the GEC and in
particular Marnie Rose and Melinda Dalby who contributed to this
effort. We are also grateful to other USA members who vetted the
drafts and provided positive and constructive input.

Sara Wallick, Secretary
August 6, 2008
Dear USA Clubs:
The USA General Board meeting will be held
on November 6th this year in Austin, Texas. If your club
plans to send a delegate to the meeting, a delegate form
must be submitted to me no later than 30 days prior to the
meeting. A copy of the delegate form in PDF format is
enclosed and is also available on the USA website. It can be
completed online and then printed. Please be sure to
send the delegate form to the USA Secretary, not to the USA
Office or the USA Treasurer.
Two club officers must sign for the
delegate/alternate(s) selected, and the delegate/alternate(s)
may not sign for themselves. In addition to
prior submittal of the delegate form, please have the
delegate/alternate(s) carry a copy to the meeting. Clubs
that are granted affiliated or full-member status after
October 6, 2008 may send the delegate form to the meeting
with the delegate/alternate(s). Please feel free to contact
me if you have any questions regarding the voting process at
the General Board meeting.
Each full-member club may seat one voting
delegate and each affiliated club may seat one non-voting
Delegate at the General Board meeting. A
club may replace its delegate and/or alternate(s) as
necessary. Please notify me immediately of any replacements.
In order to be eligible to seat a delegate
at the General Board meeting, the USA dues of the club must
be current, the USA dues of all members of the club must be
current, and the club may not be under any disciplinary
action from USA. The club must maintain a minimum of five
members (only two of whom may be part of a family
membership) and must hold at least one sanctioned USA trial
per year.
Also, a complete and current club membership
list must be submitted to the USA Office for verification
along with the USA dues of the club, whether or not the club
is planning to send a delegate to the General Board meeting.
It will not be possible to seat delegates if these
requirements are not met.
If you wish to have confirmation of receipt
of your delegate form, you may request email confirmation or
use USPS certified mail/return receipt requested.
It will be very important for delegates to
be seated and ready for roll call promptly at the meeting
start time. The delegate cards will be handed out as roll is
called.
Please send a delegate to the meeting if at
all possible, as there will be important decisions made
regarding our organization. In addition, this year there
will be elections for President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Director of Judges, National Breed Warden,
Directors at Large (5), Auditing Committee (3),
Board of Inquiry (7), Judges Committee/USA
Judge, and World Championship Committee (4).

USA Candidates
Information
Hi all,
I want to bring something very important to your
attention. On pages 93 and 107 of the July/August issue
of Schutzhund USA there is an important ad. This is an
election year, and the Nominating Committee wants to
hear from anyone who is planning to declare their
candidacy for office. Wouldn't it be easier to make a
decision about who to vote for if you knew a little
about the candidates before the General Board Meeting in
Texas, in November? We will print all documents in the
September/October issue of Schutzhund USA as long as
they are received before we have to go to press. They
may also be on the website and the USA blog.
Interested in being elected to USA office this year?
Share your qualifications with the membership! The
Nominating Committee is currently evaluating a slate of
candidates whose names will be submitted to the general
membership for their consideration in November. An
opportunity is being provided to all candidates and
especially those who may be competing with others for a
USA position to advise the membership of their
background and more importantly their plans to shaping
the future of the USA during their two year tenure in
office. Please submit a one page document to the Chair
of the Nominating Committee for consideration. This
document will be edited primarily for space reasons and
published in the September/October issue of the
Schutzhund USA. It may also be concurrently posted in
the USA blog (_www.usa-blog.org_
(http://www.usa-blog.org/)
) and USA website. The Nominating Committee thanks the
Magazine Committee for their cooperation in making such
information available to the membership. The future of
the USA and our canines rests on the shoulders of those
elected to run it and the membership needs such
information to make the correct
determination.
This is a small step towards achieving the ideal.
